Hosted at Camosun College, and brought to you by Herold Engineering, we will be discussing current trends in concrete deterioration. Specifically, this session addresses how your team can support the quality of concrete flatwork and avoid premature deterioration, flaking and scaling.
Course Instructors
Craig Appelman, P.Eng. – Materials Engineer | Harold Engineering
Craig is the lead Materials Engineer and an Associate with Herold Engineering Ltd., in Victoria, BC. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, he holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Alberta. With 16-years in the local Vancouver Island engineering field, his work has included the design, testing, assessment, and repair of civil structural materials. These materials include concrete, timber, masonry, and steel; however, with a particular focus on concrete.
He works and collaborates with a wide range of concrete industry members including structural engineers, ready-mix suppliers, pre-casters, contractors, and finishers. He is passionate about concrete durability, both in design and construction, which will ultimately lead to longer lasting, more sustainable building practices.
Craig is an active member with Concrete BC, contributing to the Environment and Climate Change Committee.
