Site Tour - Hosted by EllisDon Construction Services and Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project Alliance
Join the Nanaimo Women in Construction and Victoria Women in Construction groups for an exclusive site tour of the Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project. This event, held in recognition of Women in Construction Week, provides a unique opportunity to explore one of Vancouver Island’s largest healthcare infrastructure projects while connecting with other women in the construction industry.
Join us for an exclusive behind-the-scenes event as we explore the new Cowichan District Hospital site. This exciting opportunity includes a guided site tour of the state-of-the-art healthcare facility and a demonstration of the virtual reality (VR) technology transforming the construction process.
Transportation will be provided with one Nanaimo & Victoria pick-up & drop-off. Please see details below.

Event Details
Date: Thursday, March 6
Schedule:
- 12:00 PM:Bus arrives at both pickup locations (noted below)
- 12:00–12:30 PM: Loading and safety sign-in
- 12:30–1:30 PM:Travel to Cowichan District Hospital (CDH)
- 1:30–4:15 PM:Tours, VR presentation, snacks, and refreshments
- 4:15–4:30 PM: Loading and safety sign-in for return trip
- 4:30–5:30 PM:Return travel to respective locations

Safety and PPE Requirements
As this is an active construction site, all attendees must bring and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE):
- Hard hat
- Steel-toed boots
- High-visibility vest
- Safety glasses
- Work gloves
Additional Information
- Space is limited to 80 participants due to site and transportation capacity.
- Registration closes on March 3, 2025, at noon to allow for final event preparations.
- A safety sign-in sheet and waiver will be required before arrival. Details will be provided to registered attendees.
- Transportation and refreshments are covered to ensure accessibility for all participants.
